[ART COMMENT] So I'm finally posting this on DA here, It's kinda been a while since I've finished this so I'm not entirely sure what to write in the description that you can't read in my LJ link at the top (the Work Process). OwO
[PRIOR TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES] There were some moniter problems I was worried about before, but in the end seems like I can't help it, so here's the version that I've painted. If you're using a NON Laptop moniter, you'll see something that's A LOT more saturated then intended. But people seemed to like that reguardless. :0 I'll just update this later when I can get the printed version to look the same as what's on my screen?
[SYMBOLISM] There is A LOT of it here. Well, it was kind of a point. xDD
Well anyhow, I've worked hard on this and had more then one sleepless night to get it down for my Illustration deadline. I just hope you all enjoy it~ XD __________________

The movement of this piece is amazing. I love the circular composition, and how the background is in a fish-eye lens effect, adding to the madness that must be Sherlock's world. The color pallet you selected for this piece works really well too. I love the night sky and how it fades into the sunset/sunrise. Your clouds are very realistic and beautifully rendered. My one critique in the coloring would be that the red used in The Eye really makes me focus on it, and it becomes hard to move my eyes from it, despite the main characters being in front of it. Perhaps using the same red on Sherlock's violin to help draw the viewer's eye around the piece? Still, I really love this piece. This is an amazing work that you should be very proud of.
Awesome painting!! Loved the movement and the couluors and the inside story and hidden meanings it has. It's a bit curious that Elephant Gun had inpired you this painting...The first time I heard that song it made me think so strongly of Sherlock, don't know really why.
Thus far, I'm figuring that there's significance to the arrow, that the knight represents Sherlock and the pawn is John in some way, though that could be backwords. I kind of want to think of the arrow as cupid's arrow, because it's in the wound that brought John back to London, to Sherlock, but I'm not too sure on that. I think there's a bit to the stopwatch and the lighthouse. The lighthouse is next to John, Sherlock's "guiding light" of a fashion. The stopwatch is harder, but it may refer to how Sherlock is always very fast with his brain, or perhaps that many of his cases are a race against time. The Eye is at the top, bringing the two sides together, and really, it was London that did bring them together. Neither of them wanted to leave London, but neither of them could afford to stay on their own, thus we get our boys in 221B together. Sherlock looks very introspective, like he's thinking, but John looks vigilant, holding his gun ready, as a protector. The fish eye lens going on could indicate how off kilter their world is compared to ours, they live with murder cases, body parts in the fridge, and random appearances of a harpoon.
The thing about symbolism is that there's no right and wrong, I greatly enjoyed reading your interpretation of all the components and I would agree with all of them. There's sense in it. But you can read what I intended at the time (LONG POST): [link]
Aaah. Now, personally, I wouldn't have gone for a dove to represent John, I would have gone for a more common type of bird, such as a sparrow or a robin. To me, a dove is a more rare, pure form of innocence, which, honestly, John does not have. He's got the patience of a saint, but he's by no means a blushing virgin in any sense. He's courageous, but ordinary, so I suppose I'd go for a robin.
